Welcome to SMASH 2009

SMASH 2009 Attendees: Please complete the on-line survey, your opinion is important to us.

SMASH 2009 is returning to the  Le Majestic Centre de Congrès in Chamonix, France from September 20th through September 23rd.  Chamonix is located 85 km southeast of Geneva in the Alps, but don't worry the altitude is only about 1000 meters.  Chamonix is a popular destination for skiing, in fact it was the site of the First Winter Olympics Games in 1924.  There is plenty to see and do during the late summer too.  You can take the Aiguille du Midi cable car to top station at 3824 meters.  There is hiking, biking, mountain climbing, many other activities.

SMASH is pleased to offer a substantial discount to student attendees.  Students must provide proof of their status by faxing in a copy of their student ID to Robert Espina at 484-865-9404, see the registration information page for more details.

SMASH continues to offer a limited number of stipends for students or graduate  who currently hold an academic post-doctorate position.  For details and to apply please see the SMASH Stipends page.

The format of the conference will be the same as previous SMASH meetings.  There will be Users' Meetings on the Sunday preceding the conference.  Conference check-in will be on Sunday evening, followed by a reception, dinner, and mixer.  The conference program itself will start on Monday morning and run through to Wednesday noon.  There will be several workshops offered as well as an interesting line up of sessions.  Details will be posted soon on the Conference Program page.
