Preliminary Program

The SMASH 2013 NMR Conference will be held at the Araguaney Grand Hotel in Santiago de Compostela, Spain from September 22nd - 25th, 2013.

SMASH is a scientific meeting highlighting Small Molecule work. There is a broad focus of NMR applications, in addition to other analytical technologies, used for small molecule research. The small size of this meeting provides an excellent networking opportunity for students and professionals while attracting leading spectroscopists in this field. This Small Molecule NMR meeting brings together cutting-edge science from Academia and Industry in one international meeting.

Ultrafast 2D NMR Symposium

We are delighted to announce the first symposium on ultrafast 2D NMR, which will be held on September 26th, 2013 in Santiago de Compostela following the SMASH meeting. There is a growing interest of the small molecule community for ultrafast NMR, due to its potential applications in analytical, bioanalytical or organic chemistry, for example for studying unstable samples or to characterize reaction intermediates. In response to this increasing demand and to demystify this powerful methodology, the symposium will aim at presenting both the principles and the latest advances and applications of ultrafast 2D NMR. Tutorial lectures and discussions will be held in the morning, while the afternoon will be devoted to practical demonstrations on the implementation of these techniques on Agilent and Bruker spectrometers. We hope that following this demo, you will all want to try it at home, with the acquisition and processing material that will be supplied to attendees.

Registration is free but necessary through the SMASH main registration page.  Make sure you choose the option when registering for SMASH.

  • Scientific Committee: Lucio Frydman, Patrick Giraudeau, Manuel Martin-Pastor and Antonio Herrera
  • Date: September 26th, 2013
  • Location: Conference Room, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Santiago de Compostela

Advances in NMR Methodology and Processing

In connection with the SMASH conference, the GERMN (NMR division of the Royal Society of Chemistry of Spain), together with MestreLab, will celebrate a one-day session on Friday September 27th, focused on Advances in NMR Methodology and Processing. Four invited lectures will be given by special guests (confirmed speakers are Christina Thiele and Wiktor Kozminski), together with two additional talks delivered by the GERMN young scientists (Lorenzo Sborgi and Eva López Rituerto) recognized with the best PhD Thesis 2012 Award on NMR. This event will be free of charge. Further information will be posted at the GERMN-RSEQ web page (under construction).
